Dear Comrades,
Nice to hear from you and we wish you the very best with your Palestine poster project.
Please read over our FAQ, most of the issues you touch on are addressed there. If you still have q's after reading them feel free to write back to us.
Can you tell us if all the images you included in your email were found at PPPA or are there other sources included?
We would love to include a copy of your final paper to include at PPPA as well as any pics you might take of the posters being projected/discussed.

Dear Palestine Poster Project, Flyers for Falestin and respective artist, I, Ilhaam Khan, and my colleague, Professor Deirdre Pretorius from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa have written a paper addressing the increased use of the watermelon as a symbol for the Palestinian cause, particularly online. We gathered various posters from the Palestinian Poster Project Archives that incorporated the watermelon from 2023 to 2025. A content analysis was conducted to provide insight into how the watermelon is used in contemporary Palestine posters; as well as to add to the literature on Palestine posters and liberation graphics, and to gain a better understanding of how posters function by using symbols to express solidarity, resist occupation and construct national identity. This study will be presented at the upcoming DEFSA (Design Education Forum of Southern Africa) conference, and subsequently published in their journal. The posters displayed in the paper include the title, artist's name or social media handle and the date of creation. Please note that the metadata was used to provide context, but the paper focuses predominantly on the watermelon symbol. A revolution which does not aim at changing me by changing the relations between people does not interest me; what is more, I doubt whether a revolution which does not affect me enough to transform me is really a revolution at all. The Palestinian revolution has established new kinds of relations which have changed me, and in this sense the Palestinian revolution is my revolution.
